The electronics engineer will design systems and controls to integrate electronics with optical and mechanical subsystems of our cutting edge lasers.

Job Functions:

  • Responsible for system level and board level analog/digital hardware design and software development projects for control of IMRA laser products..
  • System engineering and integration of electronics with optical and mechanical subsystems.
  • Determine user interface and safety requirements according to customer inputs and applicable national and international standards for functional safety, electrical safety, laser safety, and EMI/EMC.
  • Perform design, simulation, and test of analog/digital circuit and software functions.
  • Generate, revise, update, and document existing hardware/software configurations,  including troubleshooting, repair, and improving of system functionality.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers on custom quotations and to resolve delivery or performance issues.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Department on safety and regulatory requirements, testing, and certification.
  • Support manufacturing, transfer designs from development to production and diagnose manufacturing problems.

Qualifications:

  • BSEE/MSEE with 8-10+ years’ relevant experience.
  • Experience interfacing analog circuits and digital peripherals with embedded micro-controllers.
  • Experience with analog, mixed signal and closed loop designs using op-amps, DACs, ADCs and passive components, operating in a frequency range from DC to 1 GHz.
  • Experience in PCB design using tools such as Altium or Eagle.
  • Experience with programming of embedded microprocessors in C required.
  • FPGA programming skills in Verilog preferred.
  • Experience in optics/electro-optics is a definite plus.
  • Good written/verbal communication and project documentation skills.

The precision mechanical engineer is responsible for designing mechanical parts, components and packaging for lasers and controllers for our laser systems.  Also plays lead role in transfer of designs to manufacturing operation. The candidate will be working with other engineers and scientists of IMRA laser development team.

Job Functions:

  • Design and develop precision mechanical parts for optics for laser products
  • Responsible for mechanical component design
  • Responsible for mechanical package design
  • Responsible for controller package design to drive the laser
  • Leads mechanical design review activities
  • Leads transferring of mechanical design of parts and products to manufacturing
  • Responsible for engineering specs for all mechanical parts used in product
  • Develops production assembly processes and jigs

Qualifications:

  • Requires precision mechanical design and materials knowledge
  • BS Mechanical Engineer Required, MSME a plus
  • Proven track record in precision mechanics component and package design
  • Knowledge in mechanical process engineering
  • Proficient experiences in Autodesk Inventor
  • Proficient experiences in FEA analysis
  • Proficient experiences in mechanical tolerance analysis
  • Experienced knowledge in optics is a plus
  • Hands-on capability in mechanical component test
  • 5+ years of industrial precision mechanics design engineering experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

After several months of training on the first shift, this precision assembly position will move to the 2:00PM – 10:00 PM shift.  Under direct supervision, performs simple assembly in the production of complete units or sub-assemblies.

Job Functions:

  • Performs one or more batch assembly operations to mass produce products. Works is carried out in a clean room/lab type environment
  • May be assigned to different workstations as production needs require, such as:
    • Cleaning and assembly of optical components
    • Preparation of parts for higher level assembly
  • Documents assembly and inspection results
  • Training in all areas will be given. Receives detailed written and verbal instructions on all work
  • Reassembles or reworks units as required
  • Uses hand tools, small power tools and other special equipment
  • Examines assemblies and optical components with microscopes
  • Willingness to develop and growth within manufacturing team and company

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years related experience in assembly work would be advantageous
  • Experience in light industrial or electronic manufacturing assembly
  • General chemical use (chemical safety training will be given).
  • Good manual dexterity. Experience in the use of tweezers and microscopes preferred
  • Ability to read, follow written work instructions and report work results in written form
  • Basic data entry computer skills, Outlook, excel etc.
  • Quality conscious, attention to detail
