The CAD Drafter will work closely with engineers in development and manufacturing to create mechanical drawings used in the production of lasers.  A solid understanding of Autodesk Inventor and Vault are required for this position.

Job Functions:

  • Use 3D CAD to perform mechanical drawings including simple component parts and complex system parts.
  • Works with engineers in development as well as in production.
  • Draw part and assembly drawings derived from existing CAD 3D models or other engineering documentation.
  • Update, maintain and revise drawings and documents.

The electronics engineer will design systems and controls to integrate electronics with optical and mechanical subsystems of our cutting edge lasers.

Job Functions:

  • Responsible for system level and board level analog/digital hardware design and software development projects for control of IMRA laser products..
  • System engineering and integration of electronics with optical and mechanical subsystems.
  • Determine user interface and safety requirements according to customer inputs and applicable national and international standards for functional safety, electrical safety, laser safety, and EMI/EMC.

  • Experience with analog, mixed signal and closed loop designs using op-amps, DACs, ADCs and passive components, operating in a frequency range from DC to 1 GHz.
  • Experience in PCB design using tools such as Altium or Eagle.
  • Experience with programming of embedded microprocessors in C required.

The electronics technician is responsible for assembling, testing and documenting, products, components and subsystems in the production of the electronics for our ultrashort pulse rate lasers. The candidate will possess experience in the assembly, soldering and wire crimping of components requiring exceptional manual dexterity as well as experience using electrical and electronic measurement equipment.

Job Functions:

  • Under direct supervision, assembles products and their components and sub-systems, including those that are extremely fragile.
  • Uses various tools and equipment to assemble and test products and their components and subsystems.

Work under the supervision of a Laser Applications Research Engineer to setup and maintain the prototype laser processing workstations in the lab. Conduct experiments and document processing parameters and results.  This position is located at ADC, our Fremont, California division.

Job Functions:

  • Conduct laser processing experiments with motion generally based on computer-controlled linear translation stages or galvanometer-based mirror scanners.
  • Document processing parameters and results of laser processing experiments using various analytical tools (optical microscope, SEM, optical surface profiler, etc.).
  • Work together with Laser Applications Research Engineer to evaluate all results.
  • Setup and/or make modifications to the laser processing workstation in the lab. This includes optics, optomechanics, electronics and computer control. Document all design changes.
  • Monitor performance of the laser (average power, pulse duration, beam quality, etc.). Maintain a log of performance data.
  • Keep the labs neat and organized. Track lab consumables in order to maintain stock and not run out.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in engineering or science discipline
  • Up to 2 years related experience, including extensive hands-on optical lab experience.
  • Familiarity with general optics principles, as used for beam alignment and focusing.
  • Demonstrated the ability to measure performance parameters of lasers in a laboratory setting.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Experience with Aerotech stage controllers and g-code would be preferred.
