IMRA America Promotes Makoto Yoshida to Vice President of Applications Research

ANN ARBOR, MI, August 16, 2007 —

IMRA America, Inc. (IMRA), a global leader in the development of ultrafast fiber laser technologies for commercial applications, today announced the promotion of Makoto Yoshida to Vice President of Applications Research.

Dr. Yoshida, who rejoined IMRA in August 2007, was previously Group Manager of Fiber Laser Business Promotion at AISIN in Japan. He worked as an optical engineer at IMRA from 1990 to 1997. In his new position, he is responsible for management of applications research using ultrafast fiber lasers for developing new functional thin films and micro-machining.

He has been awarded numerous patents and has published many articles in optics-related technical journals.

He received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from State University of New York at Buffalo. Dr. Yoshida is a member of the Optical Society of America, the Japan Society of Applied Physics, the Laser Society of Japan and the Japan Laser Processing Society.
