IMRA America files suit against IPG Photonics
ANN ARBOR, MI, December 19, 2006 —
IMRA America, Inc. (IMRA) (Ann Arbor, Mich.), has served suit against IPG Photonics Corporation to
stop misuse of IMRA intellectual property following their refusal to enter into a serious license
negotiation. IPG Photonics recently terminated license negotiations after months of discussion.
IMRA intellectual property is the key technology for obtaining high power and high pulse energy from
state of the art fiber lasers. IMRA has licensed this technology to other leading fiber laser and
component manufacturers including Nufern, SPI Lasers and Aculight Corporation. For the past 14 years
IMRA has been the leader in ultrafast and high peak power fiber laser industrial research and development.
IMRA has over 40 US patents in this area compared to one held by IPG Photonics.
