IMRA America Successfully Defends its Product Position in the Femtosecond Laser Market

ANN ARBOR, MI - Noveber 17, 2004 —

A settlement was reached September 29th, 2004 between IMRA America, Inc. and Fianium regarding a potential intellectual property conflict. Under the agreement, Fianium has withdrawn its 800nm seeder product from the market. The product formerly marketed as the FP800 was withdrawn from sale and is no longer advertised in any of Fianium’s literature or web-site.

IMRA America will continue to market all of its seeder and oscillator product lines and will be expanding its role as a seeder supplier with the recent introduction of its new Femtolite Ultra line. The Femtolite Ultra will expand IMRA’s market position by providing an even more compact, robust, and cost effective solution to users of femtosecond sources.

"We have invested significantly in both our research and business activities in the femtosecond market and we will defend our intellectual property position vigorously", said Takashi Omitsu, president of IMRA America, Inc. "Moreover, we have always believed in the potential of femtosecond technology and will continue our commitment to bring its applications to fruition."
