IMRA AMERICA RECEIVES LEED GOLD CERTIFICATION FOR RECENT ADDITION TO ITS FACILITIES

Ann Arbor, June 08, 2010—

IMRA America, Inc. (IMRA), a global leader in the development of ultrafast fiber laser technologies for commercial applications, today announced that is has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute for its recently completed addition of a new research and development building in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

LEED is a green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

The newly completed construction project, IMRA’s fourth Building , located in the Ann Arbor Technology Park, is a 22,000 square foot facility, consisting of laboratories and office areas, that was designed from its very inception to achieve the LEED Gold rating. A variety of sustainable strategies were incorporated into the building’s specifications, drawn into the construction documents, executed through all phases of construction and finally confirmed through commissioning exercises.

Commenting on the LEED award, Takashi Omitsu, President and chief executive officer of IMRA, said, “Receipt of the LEED Gold certification reflects IMRA America’s longstanding commitment to a sustainable and healthy environment. This recognition was made possible by the hard work of a variety of organizations, including: all IMRA employees, the Harley Ellis Devereaux design staff, Green Works Studio and Schonsheck, our general contractor, as well as the support from Aisin Development America.”
