IMRA and TEEM Photonics sign License Agreement on High Power Fiber Technology
Ann Arbor, January 23, 2009—

IMRA America, Inc. (IMRA) (Ann Arbor, Mich.), a world leader in the research, development, manufacturing and application of ultra-fast fiber lasers, and TEEM Photonics S.A. (TEEM) (Meylan, France), a world leader in microchip laser development and manufacture for industrial and scientific markets, have signed a license agreement for IMRA high power fiber technology as it relates to TEEM products. This license enables TEEM to further expand its product offerings in this emerging product field.

In the agreement, IMRA licenses TEEM a large portfolio of IMRA patents related to fiber lasers and amplifiers and specifically US 5,818,630.

Dr. Antoine Kevorkian, CEO of Teem Photonics, stated, “Our passively Q-switched picolasers enable a wide range of industrial and medical applications. The intellectual property we are licensing from IMRA provides a logical next step for increasing the power of our lasers, broadening the applications that our core technology can serve. Our customers are excited that we are bringing together our short-pulse technology with that of IMRA.”

Mr. Takashi Omitsu, President of IMRA, added: “IMRA continues a long term investment in fiber amplifier and fiber laser research. One of our aims in following this research is to make a contribution to world knowledge in this field. We have actively licensed our technology to other firms and now have licensees in several European countries and the United States as well as our parent firm in Japan. We welcome TEEM, as an IMRA licensee with their products generating 100’s of picosecond pulses.”
