Does a Femtolite have fiber delivery?
The B-4-FC model has fiber delivery, but in general, the Femtolite models have free-space output.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can a user open the Femtolite?
No. There are no user maintainable or serviceable parts, and there is no need to tweak the Femtolite.
Opening the laser enclosure will void the warranty.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which units are fiber-coupled standard?
Only the B-4-FC comes with fiber-coupling standard.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which units can be fiber coupled?
Only the B-4-FC comes with fiber-coupling standard.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the fiber used for fiber-coupled versions?
Generally, we use SMF-28 fiber for fiber delivery.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is the fiber used for fiber-coupling PM?
We can use PM fiber for the fiber delivery cable, as an option.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the pulse shape from a Femtolite (soliton, gaussian, other)?
The femtolite uses high-order solitonic pulse compression in the amplifier stage to achieve pulsewidths of 100-180 fsec. The resulting pulses at 1560 nm consist of a high-order soliton superimposed on a dispersive-wave pulse with longer duration (~300 fs).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the beam quality from a Femtolite?
The output from a Femtolite is from a single-mode optical fiber and is equivalent to TEM00. Beam quality is typically M-squared<1.2
>> return to top
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the typical timing jitter from a Femtolite?
Timing jitter is typically < 300 fs integrated over a frequency range of 100Hz - 1 MHz.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What range of THz frequencies can be generated using a Femtolite?
Using an A-20-SP or AX-20 (typical pulse duration is 150 or 100 fs) the bandwidth of THz output that can be generated is a few THz (up to 3 THz)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the polarization state coming out of a Femtolite?.
The polarization state from a model A or C Femtolite is vertical, relative to the head. From a B model, the polarization state is horizontal.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What type of detector should be used for looking at a 1560 nm pulse train?
For detecting 1560 nm pulses, an InGaAs PIN diode (reverse biased) gives best results.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What type of detector should be used for looking at a 780 nm pulse train?
For detecting 780 nm pulses, an Silicon PIN diode (reverse biased) gives best results.
