-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can a user open the FCPA MicroJewel?
No. There are no user maintainable or serviceable parts, and there is no need to tweak the FCPA MicroJewel. Opening the the laser enclosure will void the warranty.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are there any special requirements for mounting a FCPA MicroJewel?
The laser head unit must be installed (mounted) in a manner to allow the dissipation of up to 35 Watts to a surrounding ambient temperature of 25 șC. This can be accomplished by heat sinking the base of the laser head to a surface (ie. optical table or breadboard) or on stand-offs with airflow under the base.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the warranty period?
Each FCPA MicroJewel comes with a 1 year warranty.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the bandwidth from the FCPA MicroJewel?
The output bandwidth is typically ~ 8 nm.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are the pulses from the FCPA MicroJewel transform-limited?
The pulses from the FCPA MicroJewel exceed the transform limit by a factor of approx. 1.5

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are the pulses from the picosecond version of the FCPA MicroJewel compressible? If so, to what pulsewidth?
The pulses from the picosecond version of the FCPA MicroJewel laser are linearly chirped, and are compressible to a final pulsewidth of approximately 400 fs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How are the short pulses generated in a FCPA MicroJewel laser?
The short pulses are generated by passive modelocking of a Yb:fiber laser using a saturable absorber. Further compressible bandwidth in generated via nonlinear effects in a Yb:fiber amplifier.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the pulse shape from a FCPA MicroJewel (soliton, gaussian, other)?
The pulses experience self-phase-modulation combined with normal dispersion in the amplifier fiber. The final compressed pulse shape is not exactly described by any particular function, but the autocorrelation is reasonably well fit with a gaussian.
