-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is the F-100 all in one box?
The F-100 is made up of 2 boxes: an optical head and an electrical controller. These parts, plus 2 cables for power connections are included in your F-100 purchase.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where is the F-100 manufactured?
The F-100 is manufactured in our Ann Arbor, Michigan facility

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where can the F-100 be serviced?
The F-100 is generally serviced at its manufacturing site. For service, contact IMRA directly or your authorized sales representative in your region.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are there any user maintainable / serviceable parts?
No. There are no user maintainable or serviceable parts.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can a user open the F-100?
No. There are no user maintainable or serviceable parts, and there is no need to tweak the F-100. Opening the laser enclosure will void the warranty.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are there any special requirements for mounting a F-100?
The F-100 is made to be easily mounted on an optical. For mounting on other surfaces, please check with an IMRA representative.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the warranty period?
Each F-100 comes with a 1 year warranty.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What type of fiber is used in the F-100 laser?
The Femtolite F-100 is based on Erbium-doped fiber. It consists of a passively modelocked Er-doped fiber oscillator, followed by an Er-doped fiber amplifier

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the bandwidth from the F-100?
The output bandwidth is typically ~ 12 nm.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are the pulses from the F-100 transform-limited?
The pulses from the F-100 exceed the transform limit by a factor of approx. 1.5

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How are the short pulses generated in a F-100 laser?
The short pulses are generated by passive modelocking of an Erbium-doped
fiber laser using a saturable absorber. Further compressible bandwidth in generated via nonlinear effects in a
Erbium-doped fiber amplifier.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the wavelength output of the F-100?
The output wavelength is ~ 810 nm
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is the F-100 laser tunable?
No. The output is fixed wavelength
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are the main applications for the F-100?
Terahertz generation. Nonlinear microscopy (2-photon and THG). Seeding amplifiers. General ultrafast research.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the pulse shape from a F-100 (soliton, gaussian, other)?
The pulses experience nonlinear effects in the amplifier fiber including Raman-shifting of the wavelength. The frequency-doubled output autocorrelation is reasonably well fit with a gaussian.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the beam quality from a F-100?
The output from a F-100 is from a single-mode optical fiber and is equivalent to TEM00.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does a F-100 have a fiber-coupled delivery?
No. The output is free-space.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the polarization state coming out of a F-100?
The polarization state from an F-100 Femtolite is vertical, relative to the head.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What type of detector should be used for looking at a 1050 nm pulse train?
For detecting 800 nm pulses, a silicon PIN diode (reverse biased) gives best results.
