Research: Lab Technician
(Ann Arbor, MI location)

Responsibilities:

  • Under limited supervision and following assembly manuals, tests and trouble-shoots opto-electronic prototypes, their components and sub-systems. This includes electronic as well as opto-mechanical sub-assemblies.
  • Performs cabling, basic mechanical, electronic, and optical work.
  • Orders electronic and optical components and keeps inventory.
  • Assembles electronic printed circuit boards
  • Fabricates and reworks simple mechanical parts.

    Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Engineering or related discipline, and extensive hands-on relevant laboratory experience.
  • Good understanding of electrical principles.
  • Familiarity with mechanical machine shop (e.g. drill, mill, lathe, …)
  • Proficiency in cable assembly.
  • Familiarity with SMD soldering.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Experience using standard laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, etc.
  • General knowledge of digital and analog circuits.
  • General Microsoft Office skills and software/programming literacy preferred.
  • High level of flexibility and adaptable to rapidly evolving project requirements.
