Research: Lab Technician
(Ann Arbor, MI location)
Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision and following assembly manuals, tests and trouble-shoots opto-electronic prototypes, their components and sub-systems. This includes electronic as well as opto-mechanical sub-assemblies.
Performs cabling, basic mechanical, electronic, and optical work.
Orders electronic and optical components and keeps inventory.
Assembles electronic printed circuit boards
Fabricates and reworks simple mechanical parts.
Requirements:
Associates degree in Engineering or related discipline, and extensive hands-on relevant laboratory experience.
Good understanding of electrical principles.
Familiarity with mechanical machine shop (e.g. drill, mill, lathe, …)
Proficiency in cable assembly.
Familiarity with SMD soldering.
Ability to read schematics.
Experience using standard laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, etc.
General knowledge of digital and analog circuits.
General Microsoft Office skills and software/programming literacy preferred.
High level of flexibility and adaptable to rapidly evolving project requirements.
